Northmarq welcomes Ryan Shoars as senior vice president of Debt and Equity

AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 30, 2024) — Northmarq has announced the addition of Ryan Shoars, senior vice president, to its Debt and Equity platform. Shoars is based in Rochester, New York, and will be responsible for affordable housing originations. He brings over 23 years experience as a trusted agency lending expert.

Shoars will report to Cheryl Higley, senior vice president/managing director in Northmarq’s Austin, Texas Debt + Equity office, and work in collaboration with the Austin Investment Sales team.

“We are delighted to welcome Ryan to our Austin office,” said Higley. “His background in affordable housing was the missing piece we needed on our team. In addition to his focus on growing Northmarq’s affordable housing originations platform, Ryan will also be a valuable resource to other Northmarq debt producers nationwide that have historically only transacted on market rate business.”

Before joining Northmarq, Shoars served for 13 years as vice president of Originations for Colliers Mortgage, previously known as Dougherty Mortgage. His responsibilities included debt placements for Fannie Mae, Federal Housing Administration, and Colliers’ bridge platform. Prior to that, Shoars was a director of Originations at Greystone Servicing Corporation for six years where he co-managed its affordable housing program.

“I am delighted to join the Northmarq family and embracing new lending platforms now accessable to my clients,” Shoars said. “Northmarq has built longstanding relationships with life insurance companies, credit unions, banks in addition to government sponsored lending platforms. I look forward to collaborating with both  new and returning clients to deliver customized financing solutions.”

Shoars attained his bachelor’s degree in real estate finance from the University of Northern Iowa. He is also a certified U.S. swimming official and an active volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women in Rochester.
